Korean K9 Rescue, a New York–based nonprofit dedicated to saving and rehoming dogs from South Korea and local shelters, continues to turn compassion into action through its participation in the Brooklyn Half Marathon. Over the years, the organization has helped rescue and place hundreds of dogs—many of them Jindos, Korea’s most common native breed—into loving homes across the United States. Known for their loyalty, intelligence, and gentle, devoted nature, Jindos make deeply bonded companions, reflecting the very spirit of resilience that the rescue stands for.

On April, 26th,  2026, Korean K9 Rescue team runs NYCRUNS Brooklyn Half Marathon, not only to raise funds for its lifesaving mission, but also in heartfelt tribute to Samantha Jacoff, a beloved adoption coordinator whose impact on the rescue community was profound. Korean K9 Rescue staffs and volunteers are fundraising in honor of her legacy, supporting the work she cared so deeply about and helping even more dogs find safe, loving homes. Through every mile, runners celebrate her life and continue the mission she championed.

I will be joining the half marathon, as I have been a volunteer since early 2025. It has been a great experience supporting rescue dogs—especially Jindos from Korea—in finding forever homes in the United States. I truly respect all the hard work the team puts in throughout the seasons; winter, in particular, can be especially challenging when working outdoors.

Please consider supporting this cause through fundraising and help make the team’s run even more meaningful. Please learn more about the fundraise here
